888 launches Sports Illustrated SI Sportsbook in Colorado
Sports-Illustrated branded sportsbook goes live in Colorado
The Colorado sports betting industry is gaining another mobile betting option just in time for the new NFL season. The new Sports Illustrated-branded sportsbook by 888 Sports and SI is live. The Centennial State is the first state for the new online sportsbook. The latest sportsbook in Colorado gives bettors another NFL wagering option as the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday in the first game of the season.
To celebrate the launch, SI Sportsbook is offering Colorado players $50 in free bets to those who place a bet worth a minimum of $10 for their first wager. The minimum odds on a bet to benefit from this offer are set at -200. The free bet will be added to a player’s account once they place a qualifying bet and will expire after seven days.
The Sports Illustrated app also provides single-game parlays and boosted odds on selected markets daily. Additionally, there are “SI Specials,” which include special bets, enhanced wincasts, and boosted parlays.
888 is looking to launch the sportsbook in other states and is focusing on the New Jersey, Iowa, and Indiana sports betting markets next. There are plans in place to expand to ten other markets by 2022-23. 888 is also increasing its US investment to boost its technology.
Yaniv Sherman, 888 senior vice president and head of US, said that they are “proud” to launch the sportsbook in Colorado. He said that they feel they have developed “a unique and differentiated sports wagering experience” that combines the experience of a sports brand that has been established for 70 years with powerful technology.
Sherman said that by partnering with Sports Illustrated, they had created a solid platform that will help them build their “US position through Sports Illustrated’s extensive brand footprint.”
888 Increases Brand Exposure in the US
For UK-based 888, partnering with one of the leading US sports magazines and exposing themselves to its readers who are interested in betting should increase its visibility in the expanding US wagering market. The brand is already well-known among online poker and online casino players in the US.
888 CEO Itai Pazner told Reuters in June following the announcement of the partnership that the deal is “the missing piece in our American puzzle.” Itai explained that it gives 888 “the local brand we were missing” and access to a massive audience.
In December, 888 announced it would be launching in the Colorado sports betting, Indiana sports betting, and Iowa sports betting markets in 2021.
Additionally, the company revealed agreements with Caesars Entertainment’s Harrah’s Hoosier Park in Anderson, Indiana, Catfish Bend Casinos II LLC in Burlington, Iowa, and Grande Casino in Cripple Creek, Colorado.
