Now that Sports betting in New Jersey is legal, it has really taken off! Bettors are scrambling to have a wager on their favorite sports in one of the casinos, online or on their mobile. There is a choice of 7 casinos and 2 tracks to place your bet at, but if you want to bet on one of the increasing number of mobile apps, which is the best?
Following the repeal of PASPA in May 2018, the race was on to make sports gambling legal in the state of New Jersey and, now, over a year later, sports bettors have never had it so good. You can see out pick below of the best NJ sportsbook apps, in rank order below. We have tried, tested and reviewed these apps and think these are the best available to NJ bettors.
There are Android, iPhone & iPad apps for all the books & operators, as well as a dedicated mobile site. If you have not downloaded a gambling app before, our detailed guides & reviews will even help show you have to download them too!
Once Governor Phil Murphy had put his signature to a bill in June 2018, making sports betting became legal in the Garden State – both at casinos and racetracks, as well as online – licensed operators moved quickly to fill the void.
Monmouth Park was the first location to accept bets, while Atlantic City’s Borgata also began taking bets on the opening day. Other tracks and casinos quickly followed suit, but it was the likes of DraftKings and FanDuel that won the race to launch mobile betting from the off.
Currently there are nine online mobile products available across the state (more on the way) and it’s these that we are going to focus on here, as we pick out the best New Jersey Sportsbooks Apps – we have our favorites and the reasons why will become clear.

What we like?
With its beginnings in fantasy sports, DraftKings Sportsbook had a head start on its competitors in terms of infrastructure, and that certainly shows in its interface, which is pretty seamless and easy to navigate – even for beginners.
Offering a huge amount of sports, including all major US leagues and international sports, bettors can place single bets or build parlays by adding further selections.
Their Sportsbook Pools are a fixed priced form of betting where wagers are placed against other bettors who have entered the same event – the more players in the pool, the bigger the prizes on offer.
Where this Sportsbook really shines though, is their Live Betting, allowing users to bet in real time as the action unfolds. Once a live bet is placed, you will see it settled as soon as the outcome is known.
In addition, you can also link your DraftKings DFS account to your Sportsbook account whilst sharing the same wallet.
What we don’t like?
A few more deposit and withdrawal methods would be appreciated. That said, they’ve recently added PayPal as an option so things are looking up in that respect.

What we like?
Launching in early 2019, this Australian book introduced a different dynamic to sports bettors in the Garden State in the shape of PointsBetting. Whilst not for everyone and a million miles away from fixed odds betting, it grabs our attention in that any potential winnings or losses are variable right until the end of the game. The more you’re right, the more you win (the more you’re wrong, the more you lose also applies of course).
Not for you? Well, there’s still plenty to keep fixed odds bettors interested, all available through the traditional left-hand menu and featuring all the markets you’d expect.
Another thing that makes PointsBet stand out from several competitors are their exclusive betting markets for the NFL and NBA. Did you know you can bet on ‘Quarterback Completion %’ and ‘Time of first basket by player’? – to name but two of these more exotic markets.
They certainly pack in plenty into what is a big file for their app, including #Nameabet, allowing users to custom build a bet, and a very healthy dose of promos.
What we don’t like?
Their ‘In Play’ section lacks the live visuals that enhance the betting experience at some competitors, such as 888sport. What’s more the Android app doesn’t support (as of July 2019) the Face ID and Touch ID to be found in the iOS version.

What we like?
A relative newcomer – it was the seventh sports betting platform to go live in NJ – we have quickly fallen for their mobile interface, which is super-clean and easy to navigate. That’s just typical of any Sportsbook that uses Kambi software.
As you’d expect, all major US leagues are available along with MLS, UFC/MMA, tennis and Nascar. European sports are also very well catered for and we found an incredible 3547 markets listed for the English Premier League, for example.
Their Live Betting option packs a pretty big punch too and it’s easy to add selections to your bet slip and get on quickly – the essence of making a profit from in-play betting. Here you will also find a scoreboard of current live games and by clicking on any game, a handy visual appears showing game stats and much more.

Whilst there are links to 888casino and 888poker, these take you through to the mobile site, from where you can download separate apps. Be far better to integrate all three products into one app for convenience’s sake.

Sports bettors won’t go far wrong with the above NJ Sportsbook Apps but in what is a burgeoning market, there are plenty of others to choose from and they are listed below. All are licensed and DGE regulated – so 100% legal and safe – and are downloadable for Android and iOS.
We’re big fans of this app – read our full review here – and you can download it and register from anywhere in the US, albeit you need to be within state borders to actually place bets. That’s a pleasure as the interface is user friendly, highly responsive and you won’t lack for sports to bet on. What’s really neat, though, is that you can directly access the SugarHouse Casino, which houses 450+ games and you can play (sports and all) from the same account.

Hailing from the UK and already one of the biggest operators in the world, it’s safe to say William Hill have quickly established themselves in the Garden State, which is no mean feat given the quality of the opposition. There are still some cons associated with their sportsbook app – you can read all about them here in your full review – and their banking options leave something to be desired too, but the pros far outweigh these in our opinion.

Like DraftKings, FanDuel built on its already impressive fantasy sports platform to launch a betting app considered by many people to be the best of the bunch so far – we’re certainly in that camp and can read why here. Just make sure you’ve downloaded it in time for the 2019-20 NFL season – you won’t be disappointed!

The world renowned Las Vegas casino opened for online sports betting in the Garden State just in time for NFL kick off in the fall of 2018, rolling its new sportsbook platform into the existing Caesars NJ online casino app. Now available for iOS, Android as well as browsers, bettors will find a full menu of sports wagers and there’s a $10 free bet (no deposit required) to get you started.

Very raw when first launched in August 2018 – perhaps “rushed” is a better description? – it has certainly come a long way since and the latest updates get our approval and make it a solid option. Just relaunched as the BetMGM Sportsbook app (previously called the PlayMGM app), this new app is amazing. Feature packed and has excellebt wagering options. FOX Bet Sportsbook App
The BetStars NJ Sportsbook App is due a re-brand in the fall to FOX Bet NJ by its parent company, The Stars Group. The current BetStars app rocks in our opinion – read our full review here – and any upgrade on this would be very exciting indeed – we can expect the addition of some free-to-play games at the very least.
bet365 Sportsbook App
Now live and just in time for the start of the new NFL season for Android devices and the iPhone. If anything like its European version, we can expect a slick, feature-packed and easy-to-navigate app, offering plenty of markets across a variety of sports. And their Live Streaming – they claim to show over 140,000 live events each year – is definitely been worth waiting for. Read the full bet365 New Jersey app
Finding a reliable Sportsbook app to place your wager with is not as straightforward as it sounds. There are a lot of rogue and un-regulated bookmakers out there. All the ones listed on our site are full licensed and regulated by New Jerseys own Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) to operate legally within the state. The have been through rigorous testing to make sure they work correctly. It is always important to gamble and bet safely & securely when online. All of the gambling and Sportsbook apps listed have been tried & tested on mobile, Android & iOS devices.
We test and rate each of the apps listed using several criteria. Whilst every sportsbook will have its advantages and disadvantages, some are better than others. There are lots of things we look for when testing an app. First of, it needs to be easy to use and accessible to all bettors. We look for a quality design, speed, reliability and features. Whats sports are available to bet on? Are the lines good? Does the operator look after players? There is no point in having a app for placing bets if it constantly lags and crashes. Likewise, if the design is terrible and it is difficult to place a wager, then that’s no good either. We love user friendly, easy to use, fast apps.
Thanks to the new rulings and the wide availability to now bet across New Jersey using your mobile, you don’t have to make your way to the casino whenever you want to gamble. Just flip out your mobile, launch you app and place your bets. You can be anywhere in the state borders and have a gamble. Online wagering in the Garden State is so popular, over 90% of all money gambled has been done online and on mobile apps.
In this day and age, we want to do more than just lay straight bets. A good Sports betting app will offer a multitude of bet types, including;
Straight bets, Parlays, Prop Bets, Round Robins, Spread, Over-Under, Moneyline, Futures and others
As technology has improved, so have out wagering and gambling options. It is now possible to have a wager on a massive range of sports, not just from the US but all over the globe. Some of the most popular sports for bettors to wager on using their mobile are;
Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, MMA, Golf, Boxing, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Motorsports, Rugby Union, Soccer and Tennis.
Not every app and Sportsbook cover the same sports. Some may leave out UFC or Baseball but offer more coverage on Football and Soccer. It is always important to check not only what sports are offered, but also what markets are available on those sports too.
These new range of wagering apps have a whole host of features, some unique to the operator. These include
Cash Out, In Play or In Game wagering, Odds Boosts, Built in Casinos and Rewards Programs to name a few
You will probably find that lines and pricing is better on an a app or online than at a physical Sportbooks located in a casinos or race tracks. Overheads are a lot lower and mobile wagering will be a lot more popular and more accessible now too.
The online sports betting and casino world is rife with competition. Every operator wants you to join them over a competitor, so they offer up different, lucrative welcome bonuses. These can be free bets, matched deposit bonuses, free plays and more. You can join as many books as you like. Once signed up, the perks don’t stop there. There are regular offers, price boosts, promotions and VIP programs with most of the operators too.
Google Play, unlike the Apple iTunes store does not allow any real money wagering or gambling apps to be published in there. This has always been the case. It may not be in the future as more states open up to legal and regulated gambling.
This doesn’t mean that Android users can’t download gambling apps. They just need to download them direct from the operator in the form of an APK file. This is just the package name/type that the Android platform uses to download and install apps. It is perfectly safe to download them, just make sure you get them direct from the operators website. We show you have to do this on each of the review pages. If it is the first time you install an app outside of the Google Play US store, you will have to adjust your cell or tablets settings. To do this go to settings, then security, then find the Allow Unknown Sources options and tick it. Now you can get apps for other sources than just Google Play. The image below will show you what this looks like
iTunes and Apple do allow gambling and real money wagering apps to be in the app store, so iPhone and iPad users can just follow our quick download links to get the app on to this iPhone or iPad. Just check out each review and look for the download instructions for the links.
