BetMGM Partner up with Cardinals for stadium Sportsbook
Arizona Cardinals to House Sportsbook in Stadium as part of a new deal with BetMGM.
On Monday, the Arizona Cardinals, BetMGM, and the Gila River Indian Community announced an eagerly-awaited sports betting partnership. This is the 10th wagering agreement in the Grand Canyon state and the fifth between a sportsbook and a tribe. As part of this deal, there will be a sportsbook constructed at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. BetMGM has stated that this will be the first at an NFL stadium.
Additionally, it is believed that this is the first partnership between a sports betting brand, a professional sports team, and a tribe. AZ sports betting remains on schedule to launch on September 9, which is the date the new NFL season gets underway. The Cardinals begin their season on September 12 as they travel to the Tennessee Titans.
Since June, the Arizona Department of Gaming has been eyeing up the September 9 start date and hasn’t changed from that target during the process. Operators had until August 9 to submit their applications. The ADG could reveal who will receive licenses on August 16.
The agreement between BetMGM and Gila River had been expected, but the Cardinals became part of the equation from ongoing talks. BetMGM was earmarked as the leader for a Cardinals sponsorship following some big national operators already having deals in place in Arizona.
BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt described Arizona sports fans as “extremely passionate.” Greenblatt added that he is confident those fans will “enjoy the BetMGM experience.” Regarding the partnership, Greenblatt said that the Cardinals and Gila River Hotels & Casinos “represent the state’s premier casino destinations.”

Gila River Hotels & Casino CEO Kenneth Manuel said that they have an “everlasting partnership” with the Arizona Cardinals, offering their customers “exclusive experiences and remarkable rewards.” Manuel added that as they were searching for their partner in sports wagering, the bond with BetMGM, who he described as “The King of Sportsbooks,” means they will deliver beyond all expectations.”
BetMGM enters a rapidly expanding marketplace. Last week, TwinSpires AZ Sportsbook revealed it had agreed to a partnership with the Tonto Apache Tribe.
BetMGM sees big Future for iGaming
The agreement supports MGM Chief Executive Officer Bill Hornbuckle‘s predictions during the company’s earnings call. On the call, Hornbuckle detailed how the company’s iGaming efforts would be boosted thanks to new markets such as Arizona.
Additionally, Hornbuckle was confident that BetMGM, which was the result of a joint venture with UK-based gambling operator GVC Holdings in 2018, could top $1 billion in revenue by the end of the 2022 fiscal year.
BetMGM declared a considerable jump in revenue during the most recent fiscal quarter, from $5.2 million to $45.9 million.
