BetMGM agrees to deal with Puyallup Tribe for Washington market access
BetMGM Secures Washington Sports Betting Access through deal with Puyallup Tribe
One of the market-leading brands in the US sports betting and online gambling markets, BetMGM, is entering the Washington State retail market. The company has gained access to the Evergreen State market and signing an exclusive partnership deal with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians.
According to a press release, the interactive division of MGM Resorts International announced plans to run retail sports wagering at the Puyallup-owned Emerald Queen Casino, which runs two locations – in Fife and Tacoma, WA. Both properties will begin accepting bets on sports after regulatory approval.
What new sportsbooks will offer
The BetMGM sportsbook at the Emerald Queen Casino Sportsbook in Tacoma will feature state-of-the-art sports betting and viewing technology. There will also be a dozen 86” high-definition TV screens to watch all of the most popular sports and a 500 square foot LED wall. Bettors can place wagers from over 30 kiosks and six ticket windows.
At the sportsbook in Fife, there will be 22 betting kiosks available in addition to HD TVs.
BetMGM Continues Expansion
Frank Wright Jr, general manager of Emerald Queen, said that the tribe is excited to be working with BetMGM to introduce legal sports betting to fans in the Pacific Northwest. Wright described BetMGM as “industry leaders” and said that in conjunction with Emerald Queen, they will “deliver the ultimate fan experience in sports betting.”
Adam Greenblatt, chief executive officer of BetMGM, said that the announcement is a “key moment in the expansion of BetMGM” as they look to expand their western footprint into Washington. Greenblatt stated that the Puyallup Tribe and Emerald Queen Casino are “ideal partners” for them as they represent the same values that are “built into our DNA at BetMGM.”
BetMGM currently offers sports betting services in the following states:
- New Jersey
- Washington DC (limited to two blocks)
- West Virginia
The state of Washington has some of the most restrictive gambling laws in the country, and it took several attempts before the current legislation received approval.
In September, the Snoqualmie tribal casino became the first in Washington State to open a sportsbook in time for the start of the NFL regular season.
