Betway Official NHL Betting Partner
Betway has become the latest official Sports Betting Partner of the NHL.
Online sports betting company Betway has announced its first partnership with a North American professional sports league. The brand has been looking to make a splash in the United States, and this agreement further strengthens its position in the sports betting market. The NHL revealed a new multi-year U.S. partnership with Betway, which sees the betting company become an official sports betting partner. The agreement launched on Saturday, coinciding with the start of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
As part of the deal, Betway will get some brand exposure on NHL game broadcasts. There will be signs promoting Betway visible during the playoffs and in the Stanley Cup Final and will continue throughout the duration of the partnership. Additionally, Betway Sportsbook will receive top positions at the NHL All-Star Weekend, the NHL Stadium Series, and the NHL Winter Classic.
Anthony Werkman, CEO of Betway, said it was an “incredibly proud moment” as they confirm their first agreement with a North American sports league. Werkman stated the brand will receive exposure during the Stanley Cup playoffs and will “continue at other NHL tentpole events throughout the calendar.”
The announcement comes after after Betway’s parent company, Super Group, revealed a $4.75 billion deal with Sports Entertainment Acquisition Corp. Former NHL Chief Operating Officer John Collins and former NFL Executive Vice President Eric Grubman have been at the forefront of this deal. This agreement works for UK-based Super Group and Betway as it gives them plenty of scope to increase its presence in the United States.
Details of NHL Deal
The agreement means Betway can utilize NHL marks, logos, and official designations. Additionally, Betway will also have access to NHL media assets for the duration of the agreement, including social and email marketing campaigns and digital promotions.
Keith Wachtel, NHL chief business officer, described the Stanley Cup Playoffs as “the most exciting two months in sports.” He said it provides a “tremendous opportunity for fan engagement” worldwide. Wachtel was keen to stress that the sports betting industry is growing “at a rapid pace,” which is why he said the NHL is “thrilled” to launch their new partnership with Betway. Wachtel believes Betway is the “ideal partner to engage with our avid fan base.”
Super Group and Betway are hoping this deal will signify the beginning of more partnerships with official leagues. Super Group CEO Neal Menashe said the deal strengthens their global strategy, which primarily aims to “partner with the biggest leagues in the world.” In addition, he said “tens of millions of viewers will see the Betway logo” during the Stanley Cup games, which will expose them to a new audience.
This is one of the many deals the NHL has done over the past few months, including signing deals with Bally’s interactive, and PointsBet back in February.
