Big sports enthusiast, long-time Seahawks fan who loves betting on major pro and college sports.

We are in for an early Christmas cracker in the boxing world this weekend (Saturday December 23), when some of the biggest names in the sport head to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.ย There are 8 fights in total, headlined by heavyweight stars Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua. Who will prevail on this day of reckoning?ย

Before we get to arguably the biggest names involved on Saturday in Wilder and Joshua, there is plenty of exciting action to get through. Let’s take a look at all of the fights on this card, along with odds and our predictions for each bout.

Sanchez vs. FA Odds

Frank Sanchez looking to fight for vacant WBO heavyweight title fight - Bad Left Hook

Hailing from Cuba, unbeaten heavyweight prospect Frank Sanchez takes on New Zealandโ€™s Junior Fa in a 10 round contest to open up this boxing extravaganza. Sanchez enters the contest as a heavy favorite to win (-1600) and looking at his record, you can see why. He enters this fight with a perfect record (23-0 with 16 Koโ€™s) and also had a fine amateur career. He carries concussive power and all of his last 3 victories have come via stoppage.

Fa comes into this one with a record of 20-2 with 11 Koโ€™s and also holds a height and reach advantage on Sanchez. Fa is somewhat of an unknown fighter outside of Australia and New Zealand but has fought Joseph Parker, among others. If you think he can upset Sanchez on Saturday, you can bet on the underdog at +850.

Prediction:ย Fa is as game as they come, and should give Sanchez a few good rounds of work. However, I feel the power of the Cuban will eventually tell, and I think he will stop Fa in the mid-rounds (KO odds -300).

FighterOdds (To Win, Moneyline)
Frank Sanchez-1600
Junior Fa+850

Makhmudov vs. Kabayel Odds

Opportunities for Winner of Arslanbek Makhmudov vs. Kabayel

The second heavyweight contest of the night sees Arslanbek Makhmudov take on Agit Kabayel in a 12 rounder. Makhmudov will be fighting in Saudi Arabia for the second time, following his victory over Junior Wright on the Tyson Fury-Francis Ngannou undercard. The Russian has a perfect record (18-0, 17 KOs) and is known for his power, with 12 of his stoppages coming in the first round. He is the favorite to extend that record in this one (-1100).

Agit Kabayel also has a perfect record (23-0, 15 KOs) and is the reigning European heavyweight champion. However, he has not been the most active fighter. For the first time since 2017 the German will have fought more than once in a calendar year, and his career is in need of a spark. If you think he can ignite that spark on Saturday, you can wager on him to win at + 590.

Prediction:ย There is a lot on the line for both fighters, but I think Makhmudov can get Kabayel out of there via stoppage (-270).

FighterOdds (To Win, Moneyline)
Arslanbek Makhmudov-1100
Agit Kabayel+590

Dubois vs. Miller Odds

Hearn: If Daniel Dubois Loses To Jarrell Miller His Career Might Be Over - Boxing News

This one could get fiery. Britain’s Daniel Dubois takes on brash American Jarrell Miller in an exciting heavyweight bout. Miller is not shy of talking trash and is a controversial figure, having been banned from the sport twice previously. The New Yorker was due to face Anthony Joshua in 2019, but a failed doping test that led to the first of those bans. It remains to be seen what type of fighter he truly is, and he enters fight night as the underdog (+240).

Londoner Daniel Dubois has 18 knockouts from 19 wins and was building an extremely promising career until he lost to fellow Brit Joe Joyce in 2020. He has rebounded since then but has also shown vulnerability and there are question marks over his chin. In his fight against ย Oleksandr Usyk, there are claims he dropped the unified champion, although the referee ruled it a low blow. Dubois is the favorite for this fight (-330).ย

Prediction:ย Miller is just too much of an unknown for me to back him in this fight. I will go with the fighter who has been more active and think Dubois will win on points (+174).

FighterOdds (To Win, Moneyline)
Daniel Dubois-330
Jarrell Miller+240

Opetaia vs. Zorro Odds

Photos: Opetaia vs. Zorro, Hrgovic vs. De Mori - Face-Offs at Day of Reckoning Presser - Boxing News

Jai Opetaia is The Ring magazine champion and No.1 cruiserweight in the world, but was forced to vacate his IBF World cruiserweight title in order to compete in this fight. The Australian has a perfect record (23-0, 18KO) and is seen as one of the best current pound-for-pound fighters in any weight division. He is a huge favorite for this fight (-2400) and proved his class in beating Mairis Briedis by unanimous decision to claim the IBF belt last year.

Ellis Zorro hails from South London and has never fought anybody of this calibre before. He is unbeaten (17-0, 7KO), but there is nobody really of note on his record. He will need to step up huge levels to have any chance in this one, but you can’t blame him for grabbing the opportunity with both hands. If you think he can score a massive upset, you can bet on him to win at odds of +1140.

Prediction:ย There are levels in boxing, and the gap is just too big for Zorro in this one. I think Opetaia stops him early (+470.)

FighterOdds (To Win, Moneyline)
Jai Opetaia-2400
Ellis Zorro+1140

Bivol vs. Arthur Odds

Photos: Dmitry Bivol, Lyndon Arthur - Face To Face at Day of Reckoning Presser - Boxing News

WBA ‘super’ Champion Dimitry Bivol fights IBO titlist Lyndon Arthur in a light-heavyweight unification clash this weekend. Bivol is one of the most feared fighters on the planet with an unblemished record (21-0, 11KO) and has already made 10 defenses of his belt. He is an excellent technician with a super sharp jab, and enters this contest as the clear favorite (-2400).ย

Arthur won the IBO belt in his last contest against Braian Nahuel Suarez a little over 3 months ago. Arthur comes into this one with an excellent record (23-1, 16KO) but this will be his biggest test so far. If you think he can cause a big upset, you can bet on the Briton at odds of +1180.

Prediction:ย I think Bivol will show his class over the duration of this fight, although I think Arthur will be game. I am going for Bivol on points (-144).

FighterOdds (To Win, Moneyline)
Dimitry Bivol-2400
Lyndon Arthur+1180

Hrgovic vs. De Mori Odds

I was brutally knocked out by David Haye... now I'm aiming to rupture my opponent's spleen on Anthony Joshua card | The Sun

Undefeated heavyweight ย Filip Hrgovic takes on Mark de Mori looking for a victory that could set him up for a future fight with the likes of Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder. Hrgovich is an Olympic Bronze Medalist and overcame Zhilei Zhang in a closely fought encounter which was also an IBF final eliminator. He has a growing reputation in the division and will be looking to get back to his best on Saturday night and enters as the favorite (-5000).

Australian Mark de Mori last tasted defeat way back in 2016 against David Haye. However, dig a little deeper and you will discover that the names on his resume are not the best. He hasn’t fought anybody on Hrgovic’s level since that Haye bout and is a big, big underdog on Saturday night (+1600).

Prediction:ย Hrgovic will be far too good for De Mori in this one, and I think it will be an early stoppage (-1000).

FighterOdds (To Win, Moneyline)
Filip Hrgovic-5000
Mark de Mori+1600

Co-Main Event Wilder vs. Parker Odds

Deontay Wilder targeted for blockbuster showdown with Joseph Parker after Tyson Fury loss | Boxing | Sport | Express.co.uk

After a few nice starters, we enter the main courses for the evening, starting with hard hitting Deontay Wilder against Joseph Parker. Wilder, also known as the ‘Bronze Bomber’ needs no introduction to boxing fans. He is known for his ridiculous power, and after a spell out of the ring, he blasted out Robert Helenius in his last fight in the first round. The victory signaled a return to the big time for the man from Alabama and also improved his knockout-to-win percentage to an unbelievable 97.67%, which is the highest in heavyweight boxing history.

In Wilder’s 43 wins, 42 of those have come via knockout and his fights always draw a lot of attention as you know it could be over at any moment. He is, of course, the big favorite for this Saturday, with moneyline odds of -800. He isn’t fighting just anybody though, Joseph Parker is serious competition.

Indeed, Parker has the firm belief that he can deliver an upset on Saturday. He is a former heavyweight champion of the world and has been in the ring with some big names, including Anthony Joshua. He is a strong contender, with decent power and a solid chin but will need to produce a career best performance if he is to have his arm lifted in victory in Riyadh. If you think he can do it, you can bet on Parker with odds of +480.

Prediction:ย I think the trilogy with Tyson Fury took a lot out of Deontay Wilder, but they say the last thing to go when you are a fighter is your power, and we all know he possesses plenty of that. He dealt with Helenius in quick fashion, but Parker is a far better opponent. Still, I think Wilder will eventually get to the New Zealander and stop him anywhere from rounds 5-8. The Wilder KO is -330, and I think that is the most likely outcome in this one.

FighterOdds (To Win, Moneyline)
Deontay Wilder-800
Joseph Parker+480

Co-Main Event Joshua vs. Wallin Odds

Joshua vs Wallin: Fight time, undercard, prediction, latest odds and ring walks | Evening Standard

So, we come to the final fight on this stacked card, and it should be worth waiting for. Every time AJ steps into the ring you are never quite sure what you are going to get. He was lauded as the future of British boxing and has had to carry that pressure and expectation ever since he won Gold at the 2012 Olympics. It was all going swimmingly until that fateful night against Andy Ruiz when he lost for the first time. Defeats against Usyk have followed, but AJ maintains he is far from finished and wants to become a two-time heavyweight champion. A victory on Saturday would go a long way towards that, and if you think AJ can get the vital W you can get odds of -450.

The problem for AJ is Otto Wallin is a very, very good fighter. He gave Tyson Fury all sorts of problems back in 2019 when the fight had to be stopped due to a bad cut on Fury’s face. He has been avoided by many, and you can see why. He is an awkward customer with good footwork, and AJ has struggled against this type of fighter in the past. If you think Wallin can pile on the pain for AJ, you can bet on him to win with moenyline odds of +310.

The key for AJ in this will be establishing the jab early. Trainer Ben Davison has apparently been working on that and his power punches. He will need everything in his armoury for this one. The talk is Wilder vs Joshua has been agreed, however, both must win this Saturday night for that to ever come to fruition.

Prediction:ย This is a genuine 50-50 fight to me, and I think that’s reflected in the odds with AJ just the slight favorite. We all want to see AJ vs Wilder so I hope both emerge victorious. There has been a lot of talk about how AJ has become a bit shot-shy. He burst onto the scene as an aggressive combination puncher but somewhere along the way that has been lost. There is no shame in losing to Usyk, who is a world class operator, but even in both of those fights, Joshua seemed slightly reluctant to let his hands go.

Under his new trainer Ben Davison, one of the main focuses has apparently been on getting AJ back and fast combos to that power that saw him become one of the most popular fighters in the world. He will need to show better form this Saturday than he has in a while as Wallin is no mug and this is a tricky, tricky fight for the Briton. Lot’s of people, including pundits an ex fighters such as Carl Froch claim that AJ could be mentally fragile after the Usyk fights. He as won a couple since then but against nobody of the calibre of Wallin. We will find out if he is mentally tough enough in Saudi.

Perhaps I am going with my heart over my head but I am backing AJ to rekindle the old magic and combinations and win via unanimous decision (+124).

FighterOdds (To Win, Moneyline)
Anthony Joshua-450
Otto Wallin+310
