DraftKings agrees new partnership with Boston Bruins
DraftKings Signs Multi-Year Sports Betting Partnership Boston Bruins
DraftKings has revealed it has agreed to a multi-year sports betting partnership with the NHL’s Boston Bruins. The online sports wagering operator has been named as the team’s exclusive daily fantasy sports partner in addition to the TD Garden, where the Bruins play their home games.
DFS Pivotal in Agreement
The agreement includes DraftKings becoming the team’s official daily fantasy sports partner, which was one of the critical elements to push the deal over the line. DraftKings is also the “exclusive presenting sponsor” of the Boston Bruins Foundation 50/50 charity raffle.
The agreement comes following news that DraftKings and the NHL as a whole agreed on a DFS, iGaming, and sports wagering partnership.
Regarding sports betting, this latest deal does not include that activity. However, sports wagering has not yet been legalized in Massachusetts. As per the terms of this deal, DraftKings would become the official sports betting partner of the Bruins as and when sports betting is legalized in the Bay State.
Boston Bruins President Cam Neely said that they are excited to agree to a partnership with DraftKings, who themselves are a Boston-based company. Neely said DraftKings has “established itself as the premier hub for daily fantasy sports.” Neely added that they are looking forward to collaborating with DraftKings as they seek to provide “the best possible sports and entertainment experience” for their fans.
Details of the Deal
Both companies have revealed they will work together to look for ways to “execute strategic digital and social media content.” The aim is to continue to build and improve upon the best possible viewing experience for fans.
Some of these measures include digital linkages to DraftKings products, app integration, a new content series hosted on Bruins social channels, and DraftKings “takeovers” of the Bruins homepage. The content on these channels will revolve around exciting moments in the game and daily fantasy engagement.
The Bruins and DraftKings stated an example of this in a press release. They said, “followers will see pregame polls,” which will ask for predictions on “goal, saves, highest point scorers, and more.”
The same strategy will also be applied to sports betting if it launches in Massachusetts. Currently, there are two bordering states — New Hampshire and Connecticut, that have a legal sports betting market, so it could launch in Massachusetts soon.
Ezra Kucharz, Chief Business Officer, DraftKings, said they are thrilled to announce their latest team deal with the Boston Bruins. Kucharz described the Bruins as an “exceptional team that, like us, is relentlessly focused on the fan.” Kucharz added that they are looking forward to engaging fans “through the premier Boston Bruins Foundation 50/50 raffle,” in addition to greeting them in-person with branding around the TD Garden.
