Esports organisation FaZe Clan announces partnership with DraftKings
DraftKings Signs Multifaceted deal with Media Platform FaZe Clan
DraftKings has announced it has agreed to a partnership with lifestyle and media platform FaZe Clan. The deal will see the gambling operator become the official sports betting, daily fantasy sports, free-to-play, and iGaming partner of the market-leading entertainment platform. The two brands will collaborate on many content activations featuring FaZe’s content creators and more.
New Content for Fans
FaZe Clan CEO Lee Trink stated that both companies share the same vision of being at the forefront of internet culture. Trink added that the deal is sensible for FaZe as their “members and fans are avid followers of traditional sports.” Trink declared that the agreement gives them the opportunity to deliver their talent, content, and ideas into the mainstream. Additionally, Trink believes this agreement “marks an important cultural crossover moment” for the future of entertainment and sports.
FaZe Clan was established in 2010 and created for and by Gen Z and Millennials. The brand operates across several verticals, including youth sports and eSports. FaZe Clan also has 85 influential personalities, including Lebron James Jr., son of LA Lakers superstar Lebron James and NFL superstar quarterback Kyler Murray.
Matt Kalish, co-founder and president of DraftKings described FaZe Clan as an internet juggernaut when it comes to fan engagement.
Kalish said that the strong crossover between DraftKings customers and FaZe’s viewers made this a “natural alliance.” Kalish added that they are aiming to “create competition, community, and excitement around sports and video games” for their consumers.
Benefits of DraftKings Deal
The agreement will allow DraftKings to appear across FaZe’s digital content platforms, including a new podcast, live streams, tournament events, and custom content. DraftKings will also have a presence at upcoming FaZe Clan events and access to FaZe Clan digital and social media content.
DraftKings intends to leverage the partnership by offering customers custom pools, tournaments, contests, merchandise, and more. Additionally, the media platform will work alongside DraftKings to develop educational content to raise awareness for responsible gambling.
Finally, the agreement will enhance DraftKings’ eSports presence as the brand will become the official sponsor of FaZe Clan’s Counter-Strike eSports team. The team jerseys will feature the DraftKings logo and additional branding on team and player official channels.
Currently, DraftKings offers eSports daily fantasy contests across Dota 2, League of Legends, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valorant, and Rocket League.
DraftKings is busy tying up deals all over the US, having just last week announced they have agreed a new partnership with NHL’s Boston Bruins.
