DraftKings Sportsbook to go Live in Connecticut at the Foxwoods Resort Casino
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe will launch its DraftKings Sportsbook at the Foxwoods Resort Casino this week. Residents and visitors to the Constitution State will be able to place their wagers at the temporary DraftKings Sportsbook at Foxwoods, which is located close to the Ultimate Race Book in Rainmaker Casino. Additionally, there will be betting kiosks located around the facility.
Rodney Butler, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Chairman, said that they are celebrating a “new era for our Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Foxwoods guests and Connecticut residents, and sports fans.” Butler was keen to thank Governor Lamont and his administration, lawmakers, regulators, and others who have helped pave the way for expanded gaming and legal sports betting throughout the state. Butler added that their hard work means trusted and solid gaming operators “like our Tribe and DraftKings” can lead the way for innovation in Connecticut. Butler also pointed out that the NFL season is now in full swing, so it is all systems go.
Draftkings Goes in Early in CT Betting
The DraftKings Sportsbook at Foxwoods will permit anybody who is eager to get involved in sports betting in Connecticut the first opportunity to place legal wagers in the state.
The sportsbook will feature an array of betting markets, allowing customers to wager on professional and collegiate sports at kiosks or in person. Foxwoods and DraftKings plan to reveal the opening of a permanent retail sportsbook housed in the casino, which is currently undergoing the final stages of construction.
Matt Kalish, co-founder & President of DraftKings North America, said they are “thrilled” to team up with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation to introduce a “delightful sports betting experience for customers in Connecticut.” Kalish added that using the tribe’s expertise in running one of the biggest casinos worldwide, they are excited to bring “new offerings for consumers in The Constitution State.”
The Mohegan Sun Casino and Mohegan Tribe also obtained a sports betting license from the Department of Consumer Protection.
Regarding online sports betting, the Connecticut Lottery Corporation confirmed that it still plans to launch during the first week of October. This date coincides with Week 5 of the NFL regular season.
Foxwoods & DraftKings to Promote Responsible Gaming
Both the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and DraftKings have measures in place to ensure responsible gaming. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe said it supports the development of awareness and prevention programs for addictive gamblers, including the first self-exclusion program in the United States.
DraftKings is a member of the American Gaming Association (AGA). The brand also promotes the AGA’s Have a Game Plan Bet Responsibly public service campaign.
