Golden Nugget to Offer Online Gambling in Michigan
Golden Nugget has struck a deal to enter the Michigan legal gambling market
Golden Nugget is known worldwide as one of the best gaming operators providing quality online gambling services. They have had large amounts of success in the New Jersey online casino market, posting record amounts of revenue each month. The company has now revealed that they have agreed to a new partnership in Michigan and will work in conjunction with the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community to offer online casino gambling and sports betting options.
New Deal Agreed
The Keweenaw Bay owns two casinos in Michigan that they run under the Ojibwa Casino brand. Upon revealing the news, Golden Nugget stated they are “thrilled” to be the partner of Ojibwa Casino and will aim to provide a premium online gambling experience.
Currently, Golden Nugget only has a presence in New Jersey, so launching in Michigan and then Pennsylvania will give the company a good idea of which states perform better. It will be interesting to see if the operator struck gold when entering the New Jersey market at the right time or if they offer a far superior online gambling experience compared to other operators.
Of course, we can’t forget that the company name and reputation will count for a lot. Golden Nugget Casino has been a mainstay of the gambling industry in the United States for over 70 years, and the brand conjures up thoughts of nostalgia. Both the older generation and the new recognize the Golden Nugget name, and this could be a significant factor why the company has enjoyed success with their online gambling sites.
Looking Ahead to 2021
The plan for the Golden Nugget to launch in Michigan is early 2021. The exact details of what will be on offer have yet to be revealed, although it is safe to assume it will be similar to what is currently live in New Jersey. It is a case of ‘if it isn’t broke’ don’t fix it,’ so we expect the company to have the same setup in Michigan as it does in the Garden State.
The competition is fierce in Michigan. Other operators are making waves in the Wolverine State, including The Stars Group, who have signed a deal with the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians. The company plans to launch sports betting via the Fox Bet brand and other online gambling services.
While the Golden Nugget will also have a sports betting offer, it will primarily focus on their online casino product. This is what they are known for and where they have had the most success in New Jersey. The company is entering the Michigan online casino market at a good time. The Coronavirus pandemic has led to players playing from home and looking for something to keep them occupied. Michigan remains shut for business, so expect this move to online gaming to continue for the foreseeable future.
If, as expected, Golden Nugget launches in early 2021, there are likely to be lots of players signing up for an account. The brand will be hoping they can follow up on their success in New Jersey by posting record revenues in Michigan.
