FanDuel Same Game Parlay

There has been a lot of buzz about FanDuel same game parlays, but how do they actually work, and are they worth your time? I am going to demystify this new type of parlay, reveal the payouts, share exclusive bonuses, and hopefully help you pick some winners. So fasten your seatbelts and get ready to level up your FanDuel same game parlay knowledge!

What Is a Same Game Parlay on FanDuel?

A same game parlay on FanDuel Sportsbook is a wager type where you combine multiple bets into one betting slip, and your wager only pays out if all of your selections win.

The difference between a same game and a regular parlay is that with a same game parlay, all of your selections come from a single sporting event.

For example, you might bet on the Los Angeles Lakers to beat the New York Knicks, Lebron James to score over 25 points, and the points total for the game to be over 225. In this example, all of your predictions need to be correct to win. It doesn’t matter if one or even two of your selections are correct, you still won’t win a penny.

The great thing about parlays is you experience the combined odds of all of your selections, allowing you to potentially win a lot of money from a small stake. The added benefit of same game parlays is all of the action is squeezed into one sporting event, so you can focus all of your action on one big-time game!

SGP+ and SGPx Explained

FanDuel keeps innovating and adding to its same game parlay experience by adding new derivatives, including SGP+ (SGPx is the exact same thing; it is just what DraftKings call a SGP+) .

With an SGP+, you create a standard same game parlay but then can add other bets from different games to your parlay or even combine a different same game parlay. For example, let’s say you bet on the Bengals to beat the Texans and Burrows to throw for over 300 yards; with a SGP+, you could also add the Seattle Seahawks to beat the Washington Commanders to your parlay.

The reason why SGP+ exists instead of just regular parlays is that the odds you receive will be different as some of your selections are correlated. If you made a standard parlay at FanDuel, you would receive higher odds due to your selections being uncorrelated. So basically, SGP+ is just FanDuel’s way of allowing you to combine same game highly correlated and uncorrelated bets into a single parlay.

How the FanDuel Same Game Parlay Works

FanDuel NFL SGP

How SGPs work is you add a prediction to your betting slip like you would if you were making a standard bet, and then you simply add another prediction from the same game to the same betting slip. So you might bet on the Philadelphia Eagles to beat the New York Giants and Jalen Hurts to throw for 3 touchdowns.

At FanDuel, you can add up to 24 legs to your same game parlay bet for every single MLB, NBA, or NFL game throughout the regular season and playoffs. Here are the different same game parlay bet types available at FanDuel Sportsbook:

Moneyline

Moneyline is the most common bet type in same game parlays and simply involves predicting a team to win. For example, wagering on the New York Yankees to beat the New York Mets. If your selected team is up when the final whistle blows, you win!

Spread

A spread bet is similar to a moneyline bet, where you need to predict the winner of a game. However, the sportsbook adds a – points handicap to the favorite and a + points handicap to the underdog.

You need to predict the winner while factoring in the handicap. For example, if you take the Baltimore Ravens at -6.5 over the Cleveland Browns, then the Ravens have to win by 7 points or more. The point of the handicap is to transform the game into a 50/50 contest, and typically, each team will have equal odds.

Total Points

With this wager, you aren’t concerned with who wins or loses. You only care about the number of points both teams score combined in the game. Total points bets are presented as an over/under where the sportsbook picks a number, and you need to predict whether the outcome will be higher or lower. For example, the Detroit Lions are taking on the Los Angeles Chargers, and the line is set at 48.5 points; if you take the under, you win if the total points scored in the game is 48 or less.

Props

With props, you can make lots of exotic bets on a team’s or player’s performance. These bets are often over/under style wagers, and you can bet on everything from the number of points Steph Curry is going to score in his next NBA game to the rushing yards the New England Patriots are going to rack up on Sunday Night.

SGP Odds and Payouts

SGP odds and payouts vary based on the number of legs, the amount you are wagering, and the odds of your individual selections. With SGPs, the odds are combined, giving you a shot at some seriously mouthwatering wins. When you enter SGP selections into your betting slip and type in your stake, FanDuel will instantly crunch the numbers and reveal your max win.

Typically more legs to your SGP, the higher your potential win, but at the same time, the less chance you have of winning. You also have to consider the odds of your individual selections, as a 3-leg SGP with all long shots might have a higher payout than a 6-leg SGP composed of strong favorites.

FanDuel makes its money by paying out SGPs less than the true odds. For example, if you make a 3-leg SGP with all selections having -110 odds, FanDuel will only payout 6-to-1 when the true odds are 7-to-1.

FanDuel Rules for Same Game Parlays

FanDuel SGP Bet

Same game parlays at FanDuel offer great value and are easy to make, but they do come with quite a few rules. Here are the most important same game parlay rules you should be on top of:

  • The minimum number of legs for an SGP at FanDuel is 2
  • The most legs you can have in a FanDuel SGP is 24
  • You can combine multiple SGPs or add bets from other games to your SGP thanks to SGP+
  • If any leg of your SGP is void, then the whole SGP is voided
  • There is a limit on the number of players you can have on each team during a SGP (varies from game to game)
  • Certain bet combinations are restricted, for example, you can’t make a moneyline and runline bet on MLB games
  • The maximum you can win on FanDuel from a same game parlay is $1,000,000

Same Game Parlay Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Potential for high payouts
  • Combine action all into one game
  • Greater chance of winning compared to standard parlays

Cons

  • Riskier than single bets
  • Lower payouts than standard parlays
  • Limit availability

An advantage of same game parlays is you can combine all of your action into a single sporting event. Instead of trying to follow the action from 2 NBA games, 1 MLB, and 2 NFL games, you can turn your total attention, for example, to just a single NBA game.

Same game parlays offer you a greater chance of winning compared to standard parlays because your selections are correlated. For example, if you create a 2-leg parlay where you bet on Lebron and Steph Curry to both score 30 + points in different games, those two events are independent. However, if you bet on Curry to drop 30 + points and the Warriors to win, those two bets are correlated because it is likely if Curry has a good game that the Warriors will win.

Same game parlays provide bigger payouts than single bets. If you want to chase a huge payout from a small stake, then single bets are not going to cut out. However, if you fire up a 20 + leg same game parlay, you can bet $10 and have a 6-figure potential win.

The downside to FanDuel same game parlays is that these bets are significantly riskier than single bets. This is because you essentially have to go on a winning streak of single bets to receive your winnings. Also, once you get above 10 + legs, they start transforming into lottery tickets and have a very low chance of winning.

Same game parlays have lower payouts than regular parlays due to the selection being correlated, which I touch on above. Also, same game parlays are only available for limited markets and sporting events.

Are There Bonuses on FanDuel for SGP Parlays?

FanDuel SGP Banner

FanDuel has regular ongoing promotions for SGP parlays. The most common form of SGP bonus is a profit boost, where the sportsbook will top up your winnings. For example, let’s say you claim a 20% SGP parlay and make a $100 3-leg SGP parlay with +500 odds, you would receive $700 instead of $600.

Right now, FanDuel is running the Same Game Parlay 30% Profit Boost promo for NBA, college football, and NFL games. Head to the FanDuel promotions page to claim your 30% profit boost token and then make a 3 + leg SGP on qualifying games.

Also, if you are a new player, don’t forget to claim FanDuel’s $1,000 no sweat first bet. They will refund 100% of your first SGP if your bet loses.

Tips for Building a Same Game Parlay on FanDuel

To get the best payout, you are often best off skipping same game parlays entirely and instead making a single bet, and then once that bet wins, taking the stake and winnings from your previous bet and then making another single wager. You repeat this process until you have created sufficient legs. This strategy lowers the amount of juice FanDuel will charge you. However, if you want to make a traditional SGP on FanDuel, then follow these tips:

  • Look for games with asymmetric upside or downside – You want to find games where unpredictable outcomes are more likely to happen. Good places to start are when a superstar NBA player is out injured when there is severe weather during an NFL game, or if a game doesn’t matter because either both teams can’t make the playoffs or are already qualified.
  • Search for inefficiencies – FanDuel does a good job of preventing you from making heavily correlated selections, however, they don’t catch all of them. No one will tell if you spot an inefficiency, so you need to crack open the Parlay Builder and start trying different combos.
  • Bet the unders – Over/unders are designed to trick you into betting the over because people naturally want good things to happen. To outsmart FanDuel, consider adding some strategically placed unders into your SGP.
  • Understand how stats are distributed in a game – New SGP bettors make the mistake of combining too many player props that have no chance of happening. For example, the average NFL team averages 220 throwing yards per game, so it is extremely unlikely that three receivers are going to get 70 + yards. You also need to look at how teams usually generate their offense, betting on an RB to rush 100 yards + in a throw-heavy offensive doesn’t make sense.
