NBC has announced a huge new multi-year deal with PointsBet Sportsbook

Australian betting operator PointsBet and NBC Sports have revealed they have agreed a $500 million deal. The details of this new agreement mean that PointsBet will now become the official sports betting partner of the media broadcasting behemoth. Although based out of Australia, PointsBet has been able to gather momentum in the US and has now pulled off a coup by agreeing to a deal with one of the country’s most prominent broadcasting companies. Sportico broke the news, with the $500 million deal being one of the most expensive such agreements to date.

The official terms of this new deal have yet to be revealed, but Sportico has detailed some of the basic agreements. NBC Sports will encourage their listeners to visit PointsBet Sportsbook, with the broadcaster receiving compensation depending on the generated traffic level.

It is estimated that NBC will receive around a 5% stake in the sports betting company, which offers even more incentive for them to point their listeners in the sportsbook’s direction. According to sportico, NBC will also retain the option to own 25% of the company when the initial five-year agreement has run its course.

PointsBet is also set to increase its brand awareness as part of the deal massively. NBC has numerous different programs on its platform, with PointsBet set to become the official betting partner of all of them. Programs such as The Golf Channel and other regional sports shows throughout the country will be included.

Sports Betting Companies Continue to Partner Media Companies

This latest deal between PointsBet and NBC Sports follows similar deals that have been announced recently, with both the sports and media industries benefiting from such agreements. Professional sports leagues are the latest entity to jump on the sports betting bandwagon, which applies more pressure on TV networks to find a partner.

This trend was started by Penn National Gaming, signing a massive deal with Barstool Sportsbook. As part of the agreement, Penn National acquired a 36% stake in Barstool, with the scope for that to grow. William Hill also became the official sports betting partner of ViacomCBS. CBS is one of the significant stations which covers the NFL, and with the large audience numbers that attract, William Hill will get lots of fantastic exposure.

The sports betting content NBC has introduced across its regional networks has been hugely successful.

PointsBet Advance in America

It has undoubtedly been a busy summer for PointsBet. They have been a major player in the New Jersey gaming market for a year but have recently started to make big waves across the country. They will have a presence in Colorado soon, having already signed deals with professional sports teams in the state to increase their exposure.

One of the sports teams they have joined forces with is the Denver Broncos, which is expected to result in a massive number of new customers. As well as the Broncos, PointsBet is also the official betting partner of the Colorado Avalanche from the NHL and the National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth. As if that wasn’t enough, PointsBet also signed a deal naming them an official betting partner of the PGA Tour.
