NFL Week 14 Odds, Best Bets & Predictions for Key Games

There are statement victories in the NFL and then there is what the 49ers did to the Eagles in week 13. San Francisco walked into Philly and put an absolute beatdown on the home team, 42-19. Bear in mind, the Eagles entered this contest with the best record in the entire NFL at 10-1. This result has big ramifications for the NFC, as the Cowboys will now be eyeing top spot in the NFC East while the 49ers will be looking to claim the no1 seed for the whole conference.

Those types of results just add to the excitement and anticipation as we enter the final stretch. There is still everything to play for, so let’s take a look at some big matchups in week 14.

Baltimore RavensBaltimore Ravens Los Angeles RamsLos Angeles Rams

The Ravens enter this contest fresh off a bye week and atop the AFC North. The last time we saw Baltimore in action they were claiming a huge win over divisional rivals the Bengals as they look to secure first place in the North. Lamar Jackson will be happy he is facing an NFC team after a break, his record against teams from that conference is 17-1. Indeed, the Ravens have already demolished both the Lions and Seahawks this season and will be looking for a similar result this week. The surging Rams will have something to say about that, however. With the season looking lost just a few weeks back, the Rams suddenly find themselves in 2nd place in the NFC West and firmly in the playoff picture. Last week, they beat the Browns, 36-19, with Kyren Williams once again impressing with 88 yards on the ground and a TD while rookie sensation Puka Nacua had another amazing day, with 4 receptions for 105 yards and a TD. With Matthew Stafford healthy and a resurgent running game, the Rams suddenly look a real force.

Cleveland Browns logoCleveland Browns Jacksonville JaguarsJacksonville Jaguars

The biggest storyline around the Browns is at the most important position in the sport. Having lost starting QB Deshaun Watson for the season, the Browns rolled with Dorian Thompson-Robinson in week 12. Following that defeat, and an injury to DTR, head coach Kevin Stefanski had to make a change and went with veteran Joe Flacco for the week 13 match against the Rams. Flacco didn’t do too badly, throwing for 254 yards including 2 TDs and an interception. At 7-5, the Browns can still make the playoffs but need to get consistency at the game’s most important position, they can’t always rely on a defense that is beginning to look a little tired. The Browns welcome a Jaguars team who had a terrible Monday night. They lost at home to the Bengals as Jake Browning had his way with them and if that wasn’t bad enough, QB Trevor Lawrence suffered what early indications suggest is an ankle sprain. At 8-4, the Jaguars lead the AFC South, however, if Lawrence is out multiple weeks, that could change in a heartbeat. All eyes will now be on news of the severity of the injury, the Jaguars chances of a deep postseason run depend on his health.

Kansas City ChiefsKansas City Chiefs Buffalo BillsBuffalo Bills

There has been a lot of talk about how the Chiefs don’t look right this season with receiver issues and Mahomes not looking himself. The good news is the defense has, for the most part, played well this season and played a major part in their winning record. However, on the occasions where it needs the offense to bail them out, like last week, they couldn’t. The Chiefs fell 27-19 at Lambeau Field to a surging Packers team. Mahomes threw for 210 yards with a TD and an interception while Isiah Pacheco ran for 100 yards and a TD but they need more. The Chiefs will make the playoffs, but this isn’t the same team as we have seen in the past. The Bills enjoyed a much needed bye last week after a heart-breaking week 12 loss to the Eagles. Since firing offensive co-ordinator Ken Dorsey they have at least looked better on offense with Josh Allen returning to superman form. They will need him to continue that the rest of the season if they are to make the playoffs.

Well well well, maybe everyone was too early in writing the Bengals off! I don’t think people saw stand-in QB Jake Browning punching a ticket to the playoffs, but if he plays like he did Monday night in Jacksonville, they have a chance. In their 34-31 overtime win, Browning threw for 354 yards and a TD. He looked assured in the pocket and fired darts all over the field to wideouts Chase and Higgins. If Browning can continue that sort of form, the Bengals will be a very dangerous team. The Colts also lost their starting QB to injury, but that hasn’t stopped their momentum. In their 31-28 win over the Titans last week, replacement QB Gardner Minshew threw for 312 yards and 2 TDs while Michael Pittman Jr had a great day with 11 recs for 105 yards and a TD. Rookie head coach Shane Steichen has done an excellent job at keeping the Colts competitive and at 7-5, the path to the playoffs is becoming clearer.

Dallas CowboysDallas Cowboys Philadelphia EaglesPhiladelphia Eagles

An NFC East showdown that has suddenly become even bigger after last week’s results. The Cowboys are on a tear at AT & T Stadium, winning 14 straight and putting up huge numbers. They won a shootout against the Seahawks last week, 41-35, with Dak Prescott again playing MVP level football with 299 yards and 3 TDs. At 9-3, if they can overcome the Eagles at home this week, they can move level with them at the top of the division, which could be crucial as teams jostle for seeding position. This really is a massive game, can the Cowboys make a statement or will it be the “same old Cowboys talk?”. As for the Eagles, there is no doubt that was a reality check against the 49ers. Much of the talk going into the game had been about how the 49ers felt they would have won the NFC Championship game between the two last year if Brock Purdy hadn’t have got hurt. Well, you might say that talk is true after Purdy put on a show, throwing for 314 yards and 4 TDs on a Philly D that many believe to be the toughest around. Jalen Hurts did manage to throw for 298 yards and a TD, adding 20 yards running and a TD on the ground. But apart from A.J Brown the rest of the offense stalled. They can’t rely on Hurts to be superman every week, and the defense will need to be far better this week. We will know a lot more about the NFC East landscape after this one.
