If you are a long-time boxing fan and love the purity of the sport, you may well not enjoy the modern emergence of ‘influencers’ who seem to have taken boxing over in recent years. The hype and media attention people like Paul and KSI garner is often extreme. Like it or not, you can’t get away from it and, once again, Paul will be the center of attention on Friday December 15.

He takes on seasoned pro Andre August at Caribe Royale Resort, Orlando, Florida. Of course, earlier this year, Paul famously took on pro Tommy Fury and was defeated via split decision. He is priced at -650 to win this one, the oddsmakers heavily favoring him against his little-known opponent.

Paul has certainly used his money and fame to expand his boxing influence. He has set up his own promotion company, ‘Most Valuable Promotions’ and signed female superstar Amanda Serrano. Whether you like him or not, Paul is here to stay in the boxing world and will continue to promote and fight.

Much less is known about Andre August, apart from the fact he had his first professional fight in 2013, so knows his way around a ring. He enters this fight as a big underdog, if you think his boxing IQ will be too much for Paul, you can wager on the upset at +410.

Paul vs. August Prediction

Jake Paul comes into this fight having won 4 of his last 5 contests, stopping 1 of them and seeing the final bell 3 times. Last time out he beat MMA star Nate Diaz by unanimous decision in a 10 round fight in Dallas.

Arguably the biggest event he has been involved in was the fight against Tommy Fury on 26th February 2023 in Saudi Arabia. That was a real grudge fight, with lots of trash talk between both camps beforehand. It was a closely fought bout, with Fury ultimately winning via split decision. Paul also boasts names such as Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva on his boxing resume, beating both comfortably.

Andre August’s record stands at 10 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw, with 5 of those wins coming by knockout. He is 9 years older than Paul and has not really been the most active fighter over his 10 year career. We do know Paul can hit pretty hard and is also a very fit fighter, which may prove decisive in this one.

With that said, I’m going to go for Paul to win via stoppage. He has proven in contests with Silva, Woodley and even the Fury fight that he can go the course with fighters who have a professional background. He is serious about his craft, of course, there is a lot of extra attention and nonsense that comes with a Paul fight, but there is no doubt he makes headlines.
