Pat McAfee Signs Deal with FanDuel Worth up to $120m
The Pat McAfee Show and FanDuel have signed a new contract which will see the sports betting operator continue to be the exclusive sportsbook of the show. According to reports, the deal is for four years, with the option of an opt-out after three, and is worth $30 million per year. Pat McAfee has been a key partner of FanDuel sportsbook, and this new contract will mean his earnings will improve significantly.
Pat McAfee Background
Pat McAfee was born in Pennsylvania and attended college at West Virginia University. In round seven of the 2009 NFL draft, he was picked up by the Indianapolis Colts. McAfee spent eight seasons in the NFL and made one All-Pro team in 2014 in addition to two Pro Bowl appearances.
According to Spotrac, McAfee made over $15 million in total throughout his NFL career. He retired from the NFL in 2017 and became an analyst, beginning at Barstool Sports and then developing his own company; Pat McAfee Inc. McAfee has been part of the coverage on numerous NFL and college football broadcasts for Fox Sports and ESPN. He has also been involved in WWE shows since April 2021.
Deal Details
FanDuel has strengthened its position as the official sportsbook partner of Pat Mcafee Inc (PMI) and the Pat McAfee show with this new contract. FanDuel will work closely with the PMI team to create new media content. Additionally, FanDuel is investing in a new campus to improve PMI’s production and will also obtain the branding and naming rights of the new Pat McAfee Show live studio, which will be called “The FanDuel Igloo.”
The new studio will feature basketball courts, production studios, lounges, and a golf simulator, according to the reports. McAfee has already confirmed that he will be donating $6 million of the money from FanDuel to children’s hospitals, domestic violence shelters, various charities, and youth programs.
What McAfee Brings to FanDuel
When McAfee put down the cleats down and retired from football, and chose to pursue a career in the media, he was met with considerable backlash. Part of this criticism came because he was turning down a massive amount of guaranteed money to bet on himself.
Instead, he created an awe-inspiring brand with a devoted following and has been rewarded with lucrative partnerships. The Pat McAfee Show has established itself a critical driver of sports wagering traffic to FanDuel Sportsbook as online gambling continues to be legalized across the United States.
