Prochazka vs Pereira Odds
Fighter | Odds (To Win) |
---|---|
Jiri Prochazka | +100 |
Alex Pereira | -128 |
UFC 295 is only a few days away, as Madison Square Garden plays host to a stacked card on November 11. One of the biggest matchups on the card sees light heavyweight championship bout between Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira. Prochazka was forced to vacate the belt due to injury last year and will be looking to make up for lost time while Pereira is looking to dominate in another division after being a former FC Middleweight Champion.
According to oddsmakers, this will be a close one. Pereira is FanDuel’s slight moneyline favorite at -128 odds, which means the bookmaker isn’t entirely convinced. Pereira burst onto the scene in the UFC in 2020, stringing off four straight victories to begin his career. Three of those early wins came via KO/TKO. Arguably, the most memorable of those KO’s when he stopped Israel Adesanya to win the UFC middleweight championship at UFC 281. If you think Pereira can knock out Prochazka you can bet on KO/TKO at +125.
Although Pereira enjoyed early success, his momentum was abruptly halted in a rematch with Adesanya at UFC 287, losing by a second-round knockout. He has rebounded since then, beating Jan Blachowicz via split decision on his light heavyweight debut.
Although many may see Pereira as the most accomplished fighter, this will be a tough fight which is reflected in the odds. Remember, Prochazka never lost the UFC Light Heavyweight title in the Octagon and before his injury he was steamrolling all before him. The Czech fighter was on a 13-fight winning streak injury struck, with 12 of those wins coming via KO/TKO, with only one contest going past the second round. If you think Prochazka can once again stop his opponent, you can bet on him to KO Pereira at odds of +195.
Prochazka vs Pereira Prediction
We think this is a true 50/50 contest. Prochazka proved before his injury that he is one of the most feared and dominant light heavyweights around while Pereira is known for his vicious striking abilities. Many UFC fans and pundits alike are predicting fireworks when these two collide in what is a potential fight of the year candidate.
Still, you must choose a winner and despite much debate in our office (we really were split on this) I am going for Pereira to claim the victory by TKO.
This is not a slight on Prochazka at all. But he couldn’t have picked a tougher fight on his return from a long lay-off. Spending 17 months outside of the ring is a long, long time in this game which means he may just be lacking the sharpness and fitness to stay with the relentless nature of the way Pereira fights.
There are 31 knockouts between these two, so a points win for Pereira (+750) or Prochazka (+700) seems unlikely. In an exciting fight, I think the best bet for this one is a Pereira TKO at +125.
