Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings Betting Preview
The NFL season is finally starting to take shape as we are gearing towards the midpoint of 2019. The NFC has become a loaded conference with a lot of teams still alive and in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Game time: Thursday, October 24th @ 8:20pm
The NFC North has looked like one of the best divisions in football, and the Minnesota Vikings just put on another strong performance in a win on the road against the Detroit Lions. The Thursday Night Football matchup this week will feature the Vikings as they take on the 1-6 Washington Redskins at home.
This is not the most exciting matchup on the board but will make for a good night of bets. Let’s breakdown the matchup between these two teams.
Cousins Back In Form
If I asked you right now, who has the highest quarterback rating in the NFL through seven weeks of action, who would you pick? Russell Wilson or maybe Aaron Rodgers?
Both of the answers would be wrong. The real answer is a guy that has been on your fantasy league’s waiver wire for a couple of weeks now. Kirk “You Like THAT” Cousins has the highest overall quarterback rating in the NFL in 2019.
The Vikings have absolutely turned this ship around after Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen tore into their quarterback a couple of weeks back. They are coming into this Thursday night matchup fresh off of a 42-point drumming of the Lions.
Their offense is clicking on all cylinders, and Dalvin Cook is in the conversation for the best running back in the league. There is so much to like with the Vikings this year when Cousins is playing well. Their home-field fans also give them a massive advantage over anyone traveling up north to Minnesota.
The Vikings’ defense has not shined as bright as their offense lately, but it has certainly been more than respectable. I love everything about the Vikings, and I would buy now before they pick up any more steam this season.
Slipping And Sliding To 1-6
The Redskins are coming off of a home contest that featured a monsoon. They took on the undefeated 49ers and looked as if they would have San Francisco’s number early on in the game. However, in the rain, the Redskins were never able to generate any offense and got shutout on their home turf.
Their quarterback situation is one of the most depressing in the league, as rookie Dwayne Haskins is clearly not ready to be an NFL starter, and Case Keenum has yet to impress anyone.
The running game features a way-past-his-prime Adrian Peterson, and I cannot find a single positive about this team. The only reason they have a win is that they took on the deliberately worst team in the NFL: the Miami “We Aren’t Tanking” Dolphins.
At any rate, I do not see any world where Washington can travel on the road and beat up on a team as good as Minnesota. Could you call it a Case Keenum/Kirk Cousins revenge game? But, I don’t think that is going to matter in the end.
The line for this game opens with Minnesota favored at -16. The Vikings, as mentioned earlier, have arguably the best running back in the NFL and the quarterback with the highest QBR.
If you think there is any chance that the Redskins come into this game and surprise the world by walking away with a victory, I would say that you are crazy, and you might want to reconsider gambling in the future.
Take Minnesota in this game, and do not think twice about it. Be sure to tune in Thursday night!
