Rush Street Interactive launched its BetRivers Sportsbook app in Indiana on October 3rd, effectively christening the online market in the Hoosier State along with the DraftKings sportsbook, whose app also launched the same week. The online sportsbook is now live and available in several states, including Arizona, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Virginia, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Louisiana, and most recently, Ohio.

The launch of legal sports betting in Indiana was a two-tiered process, with retail sportsbooks beginning to open their doors on September 1, 2019, onwards, and Indiana mobile betting starting up a little over a month later.

Now bettors in states across the US have a fair few online wagering options, and it’s the BetRivers app that comes under our scrutiny here, starting with how to download it to your smartphone. The River sports app is available on Android, mobile, and of course, the iPhone; we put the app through its paces.

In our BetRivers sportsbook review, I am going to talk you through the BetRivers app download process, what features are available online and on mobile, what the awesome bonus is, how you get it, and why I rate the BetRivers Sportsbook & casino so highly. Who can download the app?

You can download the BetRivers Sportsbook app and create an account from anywhere in the US, providing you can you’re aged 21 or older. When it comes to wagering, however, you need to be physically located inside Arizona, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania and have your smartphone’s location permissions enabled. This allows Rivers online sportsbook to determine your exact location, and that is an essential regulatory requirement.

To do this, they use geofencing technology, which uses a combination of WiFi, cell data, and IP address data, and it’s accurate to the point that anyone outside – even a few feet – of state lines are prevented from wagering. As long as you allow access to the location on your mobile, you will be free to wager in the state. You can, of course, access the site on your PC or laptop. You may need to use a plugin to confirm your location, similar to the mobile setup.

Joining BetRivers Sportsbook & Casino

Okay, so you’ve downloaded the app and are ready to create a BetRivers account, a simple process requiring you to input some personal info. Registration takes between 5-10 minutes in total, and we found it simple to join. Go to betrivers.com and click on the orange Join button in the top right of the screen. Here you will need to add a screen name, email, set a password, and you can also add a promo code (use SPORTS for a matched bet up to $500). Then, on the new page, you will need to add in your address, mobile number, DOB, gender, and also the last four digits from your SSN. You will also need to choose two security questions in case you forget your login details. Press complete, and your account will be formed. Remember, you can sign up in any US state but can only wager from a licensed state.

It’s easy to download the sportsbook and casino app from BetRivers on Android. Go to https://betrivers.com/ and click on Join Now. Get your account, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Get it for Android button. On the new page, a popup will appear, click OK to keep the BetRivers.apk. Allow Unknown Sources in your mobile settings. Once downloaded, click the file and press Install. Open the app and sign in.

It is simple to download the BetRivers Illinois, NJ or any other state’s app on an Android device by heading to the Google Play Store. Once there, if you are in Illinois, select the BetRivers IL app and begin the download process.

If you would rather not download the app, you can wager through a browser instead. BetRivers have a mobile-friendly website at https://betrivers.com/. It’s the same platform as that found on the app with identical sports and wagering opportunities. It is good to have the choice of a mobile site or a fully downloadable application, but, apps in our opinion, are far more convenient, often faster, and easier to browse, so we suggest you also download the BetRivers app to your phone.

In simple terms, geolocation is a positioning system used to confirm your location. As Rivers online sportsbook is not available in all states, the way to prove you are in a legal state is via geolocation. On your mobile, this is done from the GPS receiver built into your cell. This works most of the time to pinpoint you within inches, other times it can play up. If you are experiencing geolocation messages with Rivers sportsbook like “Geolocation app required”, or “install the Oobee application”.

If you are using the sportsbook BetRivers iPhone app, allow access to your location from Settings » Privacy » Location services (toggle on) » Access the app and confirm to share your location. If you are an Android user, then you can find the location option under Settings » Location (toggle set to on) » App permissions » Locate the app, then Select Allow all the time or when using the app. If you have done this and still have a problem, see our geolocation FAQ guide for help.

Player Location Check is done on a laptop or PC by using your internet provider’s IP address. You can use a plugin like GeoComply, GeoGuard, or Oobee to help confirm your location. You do need to be in one of the legal Rivers sportsbooks states to place a wager, you cant use a VPN with the sportsbook to spoof your location.

Rivers Sportsbook app features

Visitors to the popular BetRivers Sportsbook at the French Lick Casino, Indiana, will already know what to expect as, in all essence, the app and mobile site are essentially the same as the operator’s retail offering. The online platform is very impressive, in our opinion, and that is the least we’d expect from Kambi, the company that has provided the software. If you’re not familiar with the design, have no fear as the app’s smooth interface allows for easy navigation, and you’ll very quickly get the hang of it. Not only does it look clean and fresh, but it also has some excellent features too, and you won’t lack for wagering options either. The design is well thought out and looks identical to the Android sports betting app and the mobile/iPhone site. If you are using any of the iPad betting apps from River sportsbook, then you can access all the same betting options as on the mobile site and iPhone sports app.

As is traditional with most online sportsbooks, you’ll find a list of available sports in the left-hand menu. Choosing any of these will bring up all the betting markets for the sport in question, and these will appear in the more comprehensive middle section. Here you will find three options: Live & Upcoming, Futures, and All. Click the betting option you prefer and use your BetRivers offer if you have one before betting.

Simply click on the betting line that you want to wager on, and your pick will be transferred to the bet slip, which pops up from the bottom left without being too intrusive. Either place a single bet or keep on adding more selections to build a parlay, before entering your stake and clicking ‘Place bet’. There are more than enough sports wagering opportunities to keep 95% of casual bettors happy, and I’m sure you will agree. And the good news is that NCAA games are included as Indiana’s sports betting bill allows bettors to wager on local college teams, unlike in New Jersey.

In addition to the mainstream wagering options such as Moneylines, totals, and spreads, we also found a tasty variety of team and player props, the mark of any top sportsbook.

The lines are competitive enough with enough ‘weak’ ones to exploit potentially, and especially for live games where lines are changing in real-time. The ability to cash out your bet before the settlement is another standard feature that you will find on the BetRivers app, and while it doesn’t necessarily offer great value, it’s a useful betting tool and can be worked to your advantage. BetRivers Casino

As well as the sportsbook, BetRivers casino is available on the regular website and mobile app in Pennsylvania. There is a fantastic range of exciting slots and table games to play. BetRivers PA online casino has just added a range of live dealer games to the casino platform, becoming one of the first PA live dealer online casinos to the market.

Where could the app be approved?

The overall design is hard to fault thanks to the Kambi software. However, the app itself proved a little slow on the odd occasion during testing, and the live lines are not always the quickest to update – annoyingly, that is usually in the book’s favor. Live chat support 24/7 would be welcome too, with the cut-off currently from 2 am until 9.30 am. While we can’t fault the first deposit match bonus for new customers, there is nothing in the way of a casino reload bonus to keep players coming back. if you have real problems using the app, we have a BetRivers app troubleshooting guide to help fix it.

We’d also like to see some poker and casino options, of course, but that would require a change to the current state law in Indiana. If you are playing in PA, you can view all the other PA online casino options too. As an overall casino experience goes, Harrah’s casino is a slightly better option as they offer more games. As far as mobile casinos go, they are still one of the premium online casinos in the USA.

Banking and cashier options

There are only three deposit methods currently available, as follows

• BetRivers Play+ Card – Once approved, you can then use the BetRivers Play card to deposit funds to your account instantly.

How long do withdrawals take with BetRivers?

A withdrawal can take up to 24 hours to approve, sometimes it can take up to 72 hours to review and approve. There are three current options available.

• BetRivers Play+ Card – funds will be available immediately
• PayPal – Instant after approval
• Online Banking/ACH – 2 to 5 business days
• Check by Mail – 10 to 14 business days.

Making withdrawals on the BetRivers app is easy. Make sure you are logged in to your account, then head to the withdrawal tab under banking. Is BetRivers Legal?

100%. They are live, and legal in 5 US states – Indiana, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, and Pennsylvania. They are allowed to operate online and mobile sports betting activities.

BetRivers Pennsylvania – BetRivers PA is licensed by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) for all types of gambling in the state. They can offer sports betting, poker, casino, and also table games. There is a physical sportsbook located at the Rivers Casino, PA.

BetRivers Sportsbook Illinois – The operator went live with legal sports betting in Illinois in June 2020, becoming the fourth sportsbook in IL. They are licensed by the Illinois Gaming Board under the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines.

Our final thoughts

It’s still early days for legal sports betting in the US, but everything is in place for the industry to thrive. It’s unlikely that BetRivers, Draftkings, and now FanDuel will have the market between them for long with the addition of new sportsbooks all the time to regulated states. The BetRivers app download is a straightforward and quick process, and following our simple guide, will get the app on your cell in no time.

Rush Street Interactive, the company behind the BetRivers sports betting brand, has a well-earned reputation for being first. It launched the first New Jersey online casino three years ago and two years later was the first to offer a fully integrated online sportsbook and casino in the Garden State.
