Online gambling giants Unibet have finally launched their online sportsbook for New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Virginia, and now Arizona. Bettors looking to place a wager with Unibet can do it online and, of course, mobile apps for Android & iOS as well as a mobile browser version. Unibet launched its sportsbook in NJ in early 2019, followed by PA later in the year, Indiana in July 2020, then Virginia in April 2021.
We put the Unibet Sportsbook app for PA, IN, VA, & NJ through its paces with our review. We are going to show you how to download the app, what features are on offer, banking options, and any promotions worth knowing about.
In what is becoming a crowded market, does Unibet have what it takes to stand out from established operators like FanDuel sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook? It’s a big ask.
Overview
Unibet is one of Europe’s premium bookmakers and operators. They have been offering players a safe place to play and bet online for well over ten years and want to create that same safe environment here in the US. The Sportsbook is open to everyone, well as long as you’re aged 21 or older. You can sign up to Unibet or download the app from anywhere in the US and create an account. However, to place any real-money bets, you need to have two feet inside the state of Arizona, New Jersey, Virginia, Indiana, or Pennsylvania.
How that works is that the Sportsbook uses geo-locating software, which is best described as smart use of WiFi or mobile data and IP address data to determine your exact location. So even non-residents can bet as long they are physically inside state borders. If that sounds a bit too techy, the good news is that your mobile device already has the software installed. The app itself is free to download anywhere in the US on either iOS or Android. If you want to use the Sportsbook on your PC or Laptop, you will need to install a Geolocator plugin to show you are within state borders.
Joining Unibet Sportsbook
Okay, so before you can place any wagers, you will need to create a Unibet Sportsbook account. That’s a hassle-free process so long as you have a few details to hand, and we’ll take you through the steps. We signed up at unibet.com, and we had our account in less than 5 minutes, it is swift to join the operator. Click on the link and go to Join now (mobile) or register (desktop) Here you can select your welcome bonus (choose either Sports or Casino) add your email and set up a password. Then you need to set your gender, add in your name, date of birth, phone number, set a security question, and enter the last four digits of your SSN. Put in your home address, and your registration is complete.
Unibet Mobile Sportsbook
Downloading the sportsbook app from Unibet US on your mobile is very easy to do, just follow these instructions:
Unibet Sportsbook iPhone app
It’s easy to download the app for iPhone. Go to https://unibet.com and click on Join Now. Create a new account, then select apps from the main menu. Click on download for iPhone, then you will be taken to iTunes. Press GET and let the app download Launch the app and Sign in.
Unibet Sportsbook Android app
To download the app for Android devices, head to https://unibet.com, and click on Join Now. Get your account, then open the menu on the left and scroll to apps. Select Download for Android and click on the download pop-up button with the unibet-us.apk. Allow Unknown Sources in your mobile settings then click on the file and press Install. Open up the app and sign in.
The Google Play Store in the US will not allow any form of real wagering or gambling apps to be available. To get the official, real money Sportsbook app from Unibet for PA & NJ, you need to download the Unibet APK by following the easy instructions above and getting it directly via the mobile site.
The good thing about the operator is that they offer a mobile platform that can be used in a browser to place your wagers, as well as a dedicated sports betting app for Android & the iPhone. The choice of sports to wager on is identical on the mobile platform as it is on the app. Should you download the app? Well, if you are a serious bettor and plan to use the operator several times a week, it is a lot easier to open your cell and tap an app over having to go to your browser, enter the address and then place your bet. So yes, it is easier to use a dedicated app. Casual bettors who only wager a few times a month may feel better just using the mobile site and not losing any space on their cell. Either way, you get the same great experience.
The appearance of the Unibet app is identical across all platforms too. Design-wise, there isn’t anything not to like. It is well laid out and simple to use. Unibet’s famous green dominates the header of the app, and there is a distinctive feel to the design. A main menu to the left lets you select from Sports, Casino, Promos, Getting Started, Supports, and apps. If you want to get the low down on the casino, you can check out our dedicated Unibet casino app review for more info. There is a search feature at the top of the screen. You can use this to find your sport of choice, or even market by tapping in your selections. Adding bets to the bet slip is easy, just tap on the odds and the bet slip will open up. Enter your stake and press place bet. You can see your potential payout and return when you add in the steak. Keep track of your bets in the account section on the app when you are logged in.
You can see visuals on most sports and games on both the mobile site and app. These are great features and give you a much better understanding of what is happening during a match, helping you to make a better wager. We will cover more dedicated features found on the app further on in our review.
What sports are available to wager on with the Unibet PA, IN, VA, & NJ app? Well quite a lot in fact, including:
You won’t struggle for sports to bet on as there’s an impressive list, all located in the left-hand column of the homepage. As you’d expect, the more popular sports have the most betting options/wagers available, and around 4,000 were showing in the left-hand menu for Football (NFL, NCAAF, and CFL) when we did our Saturday afternoon check. Soccer had 46,000 plus markets available, and just about every league under the sun was being covered.
For each NFL game, there were 157 different wagers available, and that’s pretty decent, although that fell some way below what you’d get at the likes of FanDuel and bet365. Both of those sportsbooks have far more game/player props available for sure.
That said, what the Unibet Sportsbook app has to offer is going to satisfy most casual bettors around 98% of the time, and the site is well structured enough to allow you to find your bet quickly, upload it to the bet slip and get on. Just click on the odds to add to the bet slip, which pops up from the bottom of the screen, and then either hide or pin it so that it stays visible while you’re building a parlay, round robins, or more.
As for the lines on offer, they are competitive enough and comparable to the more popular apps in The Keystone or Garden State, FanDuel, and DraftKings, but they don’t exactly go out on a limb either. For help with understanding lines and odds, we have an easy-to-follow guide – understanding betting odds.
Bonus information
New Player Offer
Unibet USA is a relative latecomer to the NJ and PA online betting market and is, therefore, playing catch up, which might explain why their welcome offer for new customers is a good one.
Essentially, once you’re signed up, new customers can claim a $500 second chance bet promo. Join up today by going to unibet.com and selecting your bonus when creating your account. You don’t need to use a Unibet bonus code, just sign up on any of the links on the site; you can claim the offer on your mobile, on the Unibet app, or on the regular site.
Unibet no longer offers a $10 free bet, but for anyone looking to get a $10 bonus, there are other operators offering up completely free bets with no deposit.
$50 SECOND CHANCE BET
- Make your first cash bet on any event.
- If your bet loses, you will receive a refund to your account equal to the amount of your losing wager (up to 250 risk free).
- You will receive a refund within 72 hours.
Unibet Promos
Just a couple of promos displaying on the app at the time of compiling this guide, and frankly, we’ve seen far more elsewhere, but they’re still worth flagging up here. Check out the other free sportsbook offers on our dedicated page.
Weekly Parlay Boost
Boost your successful parlay returns by 10% (3-way), 20% (4-way), and 30% (5-way).
This is better than it looks as you can use it three times each week, albeit the maximum stake for each parlay is capped at $25
$100k Pigskin Parlay
Place a $10, 6-team parlay on pro football spreads for the current week (Tuesday-Monday) and have a chance to win $100,000.
To hit the jackpot, all six teams need to cover the spread by a margin of an additional 9.5 points each, with multiple winners sharing the $100k equally – as well as picking up the standard payout on their parlay. It’s a good idea to use a parlay calculator tool before placing down your bets.
So what are you going to do with those second chance bets? They’re worthless if you can’t convert them into some real money by landing on a winner or two. We can’t guarantee those, unfortunately, although our Free Picks & Tips section might help.
Sportsbook Features
As a well-established sportsbook, you can bet Unibet knows a thing or two about offering bettors tools to help them place bets easier. Very similar to the Unibet mobile app found over in Europe, a lot of features have made their way on to Pennsylvania and also the New Jersey version, these include:
Live Betting
This is perhaps where the Unibet app for NJ, IN, VA & PA excels as the section devoted to in-play betting – hit the ‘Live Right Now’ button to launch it – is well organized and responsive, which is precisely what you need when betting live as the action unfolds.
Action Betting
One of the quickest and most dynamic ways to bet, with just seconds between the bet being placed and the outcome being decided. Unibet Sportsbook offer Action Betting on odds such as next basket, next point, future occurrence, and many more, covering a wide range of nearly all live sports from the book.
There’s a good amount of markets too and certainly not just the standard Moneylines and spreads – we counted 22 wagers on offer for Auburn @ Texas A&M. And what’s neat is that when you click on any game, it shows a graphic showing live updates and statistics from the game in question.
Upcoming games, Money line visual & Main menu
Also useful is their ‘Starting Soon’ section, which, as it sounds, displays games/events that are about to start, hence saving you having to trawl through the left-hand menu. You can build a parlay or same game parlay from here and get your bet on nice and quick.
Cash Out
A standard feature now for all online books and, in case you’re wondering, it allows you to settle on (end) an open bet before the outcome is known. The amount of money you get back is determined by the operator and depends on the current likelihood of your bet winning.
It’s a reassuring feature to have, of course, and you can ‘Cash Out’ on the Unibet bet slip, but from our experience, it heavily favors the book and can offer lousy value. Need to know more about Cash Out? Then see our US Sportsbooks with cash out guide page.
What could be approved on the app?
The Unibet app for Android & iPhone app does a lot of things right, and it’s hard to pick fault with what it currently does. It’s a fully functioning sport betting app with a good selection of sports and markets and a decent live in-play offering – enough to keep most casual bettors happy for sure. Unibet TV (which is huge in Europe) is not available in NJ or PA. It may make an appearance in the future.
But it’s a much of a muchness in our opinion as it fails to really stand out from its competitors, which is problematic in what is a competitive market and it’ll have to evolve if it wants to stick around.
We are picky when it comes to choosing our apps, admittedly, but we struggled to find something that lifts this app above the rest, even just an inch, and we doubt we’re alone in saying the green and white design is on the bland side. You can see more NJ sportsbook apps over on our dedicated review and guide page.

- ACH (Bank Transfer) – up to 5 business days
- NETELLER– up to 3 business days
- PayPal – up to 3 business days
On testing, we found that no issues with either depositing or taking our money out, and the longest we had to wait for a payout was five business days. PayPal deposits and withdrawals are nearly instantaneous, and that’s easily our withdrawal method of choice. The minimum withdrawal is set at $10 regardless of the method.
Responsible Gambling
Following regulations issued by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, Unibet NJ allows users to set deposit, spend, and session time limits, as well as adjusting these limits at any time through the Responsible Gaming page accessible via the ‘My Account’ menu.
Unibet is a legal and regulated online sportsbook in Pennsylvania and follows responsible gambling rules set out by the PA Gaming Control Board.
We recommend that every user sets realistic limits after creating their account as there is then less chance of you chasing losses when things aren’t going your way – it’s more fun this way too.
Support
We hope you won’t need it, but there will always be a time when some customer support is required, and that’s not lacking on the Unibet app in PA or NJ.
But before you hit them up via any of the three ways shown below, it’s worth checking out their Help Center (click the ‘Help’ button at the bottom of the page/screen) as this includes a decent list of FAQs for several categories
- Live Chat – Click the Chat icon (bottom right) to start chatting, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Phone – Call them toll-free 24/7: 1-855-655-6310
- Email – support@nj.unibet.com
Is Unibet Sportsbook Legal?
It sure is. Unibet Sportsbook (and the Unibet casino) is now legal across two states in the US. They are able to provide online sports betting, and also casino games in the following states:
Unibet Sportsbook NJ – Licensed in partnership with the Hard Rock Hotel And Casino, Atlantic City. They are licensed under the NJ DGE (Division of Gaming Enforcement).
Unibet PA Sportsbook – Unibets PA online Sportsbook is licensed by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) for online betting and casino in the state. They operate via their land-based partner, the Mohegan Sun Pocono, located on the outskirts of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Unibet Indiana – The operator went live in Indiana in July 2020. They are licensed by the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) for online and mobile betting. Their partnership is with the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Unibet Sportsbook Virginia – Unibet went live with its online sportsbook and mobile app in the Old Dominion on April 28, 2021, joining one of the fastest-growing sports betting markets in the US. The operator is licensed by the Virginia Lottery.
Unibet Sportsbook Iowa – Unibet launched its sportsbook in the Hawk Eye state on September 1, 2021. The operator is licensed by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. – Closed in November 2022
Our final thoughts
It’s hard to believe there is now a massive choice of Sportbooks operating in the Garden State when you think it’s only back in 2018 when sports betting was legalized. Room for one more? Why the hell not and competition is never a bad thing in the industry as it usually translates to better lines and more exciting promotions for bettors as books compete for your cash.
So go ahead, download the Unibet Sportsbook app – if only to grab the generous second chance bets on offer to new customers. Just don’t expect it to blow you away, and, in all truth, we much prefer the look and feel of the Unibet Casino app.
Unibet background info
Founded in 1997 by Anders Strom, who originally directed operations from his home address in Earl’s Court, London, taking bets on the phone, the company then relocated to Malta, where it was granted an international gambling license.
We’ll spare you the rest and jump to the modern-day, which now sees them providing an online platform for sports, casinos, poker, and bingo to over 11 million customers from over 100 countries – yes, we grabbed that bit from Wiki.
The company that owns the Unibet brand has also undergone a name change to the Kindred Group, which now houses 11 brands, including 32Red, Maria Casino, and Unibet Sportsbook NJ – their first entry into the regulated US sports betting market.
That’s a far cry from the days when using offshore books (like bovada) was the only option if we wanted to get a bet on.
Final Words
If you are looking for a reliable sportsbook to use in IN, NJ & PA, then the Unibet app will tick most of your boxes. They are slowly establishing themselves as a premium, VIP sportsbooks online and have a great reputation in the Foxwoods Casino PA. Similar to other EU sports betting operators like bet365 and Caesars Sportsbook, it will take time before they can compete with the likes of BetMGM & BetRivers.
The no deposit bonus sportsbook is one of the best second-chance bets online offers available and a great way to get started with the sportsbook.
